José Miguel Diniz is a Medical Doctor specialising in Public Health and a PhD candidate in Health Data Science, focusing on Artificial Intelligence and Privacy. A lecturer on Public Health within a Master’s in Medicine programme, he has authored several scientific papers and a technical chapter, with award-winning presentations at biomedical congresses. At the NOVA-SBE Health Economics & Management Knowledge Centre, he coordinates a working group for developing and implementing AI systems within the Portuguese National Health Service. His international experience includes working at the Portuguese Directorate-General for Health under the OECD PaRIS project, serving as a committee expert in the European Commission’s Harnessing Talent Platform (DG REGIO), and currently interning at the WHO Athens Quality of Care and Patient Safety Office. His work sits at the intersection of health data innovation, public health policy, and health system strengthening.
